NEVADA TEST SITE

An experimental A-Bomb is scheduled to be fired at the Nevada Test Site this morning.

In order to reduce radioactive fallout on the region near the Test Site, the Bomb is being fired from an anchored balloon at 1,500 feet. The sudden burst of light may have a startling effect and could cause temporary impairment of vision to those looking directly toward Yucca Flat.

This morning's test is one of a series required to devlop our nuclear weapons and help build our strength to defend the free world against aggression. while only relatively small devices are tested in Nevada, this test will be visually impressive. You will want to see it.

For your own safety, we ask that you park beside the road and do not look directly at Nevada Test Site (directly in front of you) until a few seconds after you see the bright, reflected glare. It will then be perfectly safe to watch the burst, and to watch the atomic form and rise into the sky. Do not look at the burst when it is first fired.

While you are parked, you might turn on your car radio. We understand that local radio stations will carry descriptions of the burst.

If this morning's shot should be postponed, those parked along the highway will be advised as soon as possible.
