On September 17, 1957, Mrs. B. Billings wrote to complain about the 1957 Nevada Tests. . . She pleaded with the (local) paper to "do what you can to obtain a cancellation of the proposed A-bomb test scheduled for September 18, at the Nevada Test Site. . . for the health and welfare of all the men, women and children in the Western United States; to maintain unpolluted the animal and vegetable life; to leave undisturbed the equilibrium of the good earth, please do whatever it is possible for you to do."
