Silver Queen Hotel ~
775-847-0440 $45 to $100, or $125 bridal suite
The Silver Queen is currently Virginia City's only hotel, has a marriage chapel in the back, and a saloon, sits across from Piper's Opera House and next to where the famous International Hotel used to be. Tiny, the hotel's kingpin, has a Rolls Royce I hope to inherit someday. The hotel has been featured on TV many times for being haunted. I stayed there once and I must say that the ghosts were very warm and accommodating. Who needs cable and phone when you have paranormal entertainment? $55- $60 a night

Virginia City Motel ~
775-847-0282 Single or double occupancy $79 or two rooms for $100
Our newest addition just opened this last summer and has been doing quite well, thank you. The best caterer known in town is running this one, but is she as good as my Chinese cook? I wonder. 15 rooms.

Sugarloaf Motel ~
775-847-0551 $55 to $85, kitchenettes available
Closest to the Mackay, has a grocery store that serves as a main hub of information dispersal and scuttlebutt. The owner loves fine wines. You should have seen the look on his face when I bought his best bottle, one he had been planning to drink himself. I love these people. Some rooms have kitchenettes. 13 rooms, maybe two are haunted, $55 and up.

Comstock Mountain Lodge ~
775-847-0233
Rates $50 to $65
This is actually a pretty good looking place but I don't know hardly anything about it. Probably good for people who want to mind their own business. South end of C street, between Gold Hill and Virginia City.

Gold Hill Hotel ~
775-847-0111 $45 to $145, holiday and dinner rates
http://www.goldhillhotel.net
This is the oldest hotel in Nevada and probably the oldest this side of the Mississippi. It reeks of atmosphere, walking into the bar and big dining room is like walking into the arms of Morpheus. Five star restaurant has unusual food, alligator strips and buffalo burgers, bar papered in money, theatre troupe that does what I call "whorehouse plays." Pretty cool stuff, very classy. 13 rooms, some are haunted.

Tyson's Dude Ranch ~
http://www.nevadaduderanch.com
Summer, $125 to $165, winter $95 to $145. Fireplaces, kitchens and kitchenettes. Breakfast. Restaurant, stage and seating for 200. Far north end in a canyon. John Tyson is a local celebrity, deputy sheriff, newsman, talk show host, pistol -packin' horse back singing cowboy. Can't help but love the guy, kind of a native son. Rumor has it I may start hanging round ~ so if you run into me there, say "Howdy!"~jrb~

Virginia City RV Park and Store ~
camper space $23, 5th wheel rental $60, cabin $90
Open until 7, make a turn on your left as you come into town, cemetery. Has a couple of cabins, or you can sleep in your luxurious motor home, trailer, camper, tent, car or naked under the stars. Owned and operated by the Andy Griffith like Sheriff, his wife and daughter. Hookups, Showers, laundry, casino and deli. Neat people. The number one guy, if you ask me. Straight shooter.

See you at dinner!
