Dinner with the
Mysterious Stranger
~ Channeling Twain ~

Inspired by "The Mysterious Stranger" novel by Mark Twain in which Satan appears on Earth before children to perform "miracles" for them, from magic tricks to manipulating destiny. Benneth plays Twain performing feats of telepathy and manifesting spirits of the past.

John Robert Benneth is a mentalist, "a magician of the mind." who represents Mark Twain in Virginia City and makes his headquarters at the "Mackay Mansion." The Mackay was the headquarters for a creative bonanza 144 years ago, much like the Internet is today,

Built by George Hearst (father of newspaper baron, William Randolph Hearst) directly on top of his first gold and silver mine in the Comstock lode. This large Italianate brick structure design was popular prior to Victorian architecture which predominates most of Viriginia City. The bricks laid by Hearst would soon become the home of the richest man in America, John Mackay.

In 2000, Benneth moved to Virginia City to channel and resurrect the character of Mark Twain. Benneth performed dozens of manifestations of Mark Twain, mind reading and prediction stunts for the public in Virginia City's legendary haunted theater, Piper's Opera House. He performed the longest run of stage shows as Mark Twain in the modern history of the 128 year old Opera House.

A GOOD DINNER AND MORE
"I know there are a few people out there who intuitively recognize this," Benneth says. "'My Dinner with the Mysterious Stranger' is more than a piece of entertainment. It is a wonder work, where odd things happen that will be sure to astound and inspire those who wish to have it, from the meeting of great spirits past, to demonstrations of the ability of one mind to connect with another."

Only a select few will be in attendance to experience the wonderful food, fine wine, music and if you are willing to believe: miracles and the survival of conciousness.

"I believe these few know, perhaps only subconsciously, who they are. I say this because I don't any longer believe in a random universe. It's all too connected to be happenstance. They are coming, and each night promises to be unique.

"This is a convocation," he says. "An invitation to a meeting of great minds at a wellspring of imagination, the inspirational point for the next bonanza, to review where we've been, and what we're going to do next."
